 HIV Treatment Has Come a Long Way. Stigma Is Still Catching Up 

While a cure remains elusive, medical progress in HIV over the past four decades has been nothing short of extraordinary. Today, people living with HIV who take antiretroviral therapy can achieve viral suppression, live long and healthy lives, and—when their viral load is undetectable, they cannot sexually transmit the virus. The science is clear, the medications are effective, and for many people HIV has become a manageable chronic condition.


Human attitudes, however, have not always moved at the same speed as science.


Medical breakthroughs can happen quickly. Changing minds takes longer.
